2010I'm a Proud Papa! alexisharte.bandcamp.com/track/mias-halloween-song My 6-year old daughter Mia and I wrote this Halloween song, and we recorded the other night in my studio (I'd love to say we did it at midnight, decided to make it a benefit for an organization she is taken by). She chose Smile Train, an organization with a very simple mission – they provide free cleft palette surgeries for kids in developing countries who can't otherwise afford them. So it turns out these surgeries are much more than just cosmetic. Clefts are a major problem in developing countries where there are millions of children who are suffering with unrepaired clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly, aren’t allowed to attend school or hold a job, and face very difficult lives filled with shame and isolation. Listen to the song here for free, and if it makes you smile (or shiver in fright!), please consider downloading it. 100% of proceeds will be sent to Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org) She has already raised over $300 so far! More than enough for an entire surgery for one child. We are excited to be playing at the 14th annual Sol Fest, the premier solar and sustainable living festival in CA. There are over 50 workshops on solar and sustainable living. Speakers include Arianna Huffington and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Bands include Poor Man's Whisky and many others. All details here: www.solfest.org Our set is from 1 PM to 1:45 PM on Saturday September 25th. "The Solar Living Institute's Annual Fund raiser has outgrown the Solar Living Center in Hopland. We are relocating to the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah (just 12 miles North of SLC) for a 2-day Solar & Sustainable Celebration." Sometimes songs just write themselves.... Listen for Free, Enjoy... The episode of Comcast's MYX Visual Crunch with Send A Robot aired last month, April 2010. Though they can't post the entire episode online (it was 15 minutes long), here is a 3 minute version on YouTube of Send A Robot (www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK8YQZ0HA_U). Our video for Send A Robot is being featured on a special segment of MYX Visual Crunch, a syndicated cable show that presents the best Indie music videos, and reveals how low-budget producers create high-quality works of art! Hear straight from the directors and producers who take on this monster, as they share their experience of turning music into a music video. April 8, Thursday at 2000 PT/ 2300 ET Dear Friends, Rather than wait until I have 10 or 14 finished songs before releasing anything, I've decided to release singles as I finish them. A steady flow so to speak. Here's the first one...it's a song I've wanted to write for a long time. I'm really proud of it and I think you'll like it. You can listen to the whole song for free, and as many times as you want, and/or you can download it as an mp3, wav, or countless other compressed and uncompressed formats for $0.99, so If you like the track, I'd certainly appreciate the support. I'm bypassing iTunes, so if you are not a Steve Jobs fan, you can rest easy. On Friday, March 12 at 6 PM, I will be performing live at the Davis Film Festival in the Veteran's Memorial Theater in downtown Davis, CA. The film I scored, Kaziah the Goat Woman (kaziahthedocumentary.com), will be featured in the festival on Saturday the 13th and I've been invited to perform the night before. The film has also been accepted to the Brattleboro Film Festival in Vermont...What's after B for Brattleboro? C for Cannes!

July 9, 2009 On a scene with no lack of smart, resourceful singer-songwriters, the Bay Area's Alexis Harte has long distinguished himself with lovingly detailed tunes that transform his rootsy influences into a lithe, personal sound. "Essential Picks" San Francisco Chronicle July 9th, 2009 July 11, 2009 Thanks for helping us fill the Freight and Salvage to capacity last night! Here are a few photos of the festivities... Cellist and Whistler Phil Worman took most of these so he's not in them, nor unfortunately is Julia Harrell, who held it down on percussion. I took the one of the crowd (dig the mosh-pit of kids in the front). The show airs nationally on PBS on Friday April 17th. Check your local PBS stations for showtimes. Last week I signed a multi-year music administration deal with Lionsgate Entertainment. These are the fine folks responsible for 3:10 to Yuma, Bank Job, Hotel Rwanda, Leonard Cohen: I'm your Man, The U.S. vs John Lennon, Crash (Oscar Best Picture 2005) and many, many more. As I've been focusing my music career more and more on songwriting and licensing for film and TV, there really could not be a better partnership for me. In addition to licensing songs from the last 3 records, I'll be writing some new material specifically for them. So, with any luck, you can expect to hear AH and AHB songs in upcoming Lionsgate films and TV shows (they do the Emmy Award winning Weeds, MadMen, and much mo'). |

Starting January 4th, Alexis Harte's Sunlight Loping will be used as the introductory music for NOW on PBS. Called "one of the last bastions of serious journalism on TV" by the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, the series occupies a unique place in the American television landscape. For three seasons the broadcast has been led by Bill Moyers. At the helm in 2005 is veteran journalist David Brancaccio, who joined NOW in fall 2003 after a decade as host of public radio's MARKETPLACE. NOW has aired Harte's music in the past, but starting 08' Sunlight Loping will introduce the show each week. The show airs every Friday night see www.pbs.org/now for local airing times on your PBS station. |

Good News on the Licensing Front |
The song Wiggle Room (admittedly one of the goofier I've written) seems to have caught on lately. It will be featured in an upcoming series on ABC called "Notes from the Underbelly" directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (who directed Get Shorty, Men in Black, RV and more). It's also going to be in a Fox series called "The Loop," which is in its second season, and also in an upcoming film called "Careless" with Colin Hanks (Tom's son) due out in early 2007. Fun stuff. |
Cool the World |
I've also lately been involved with an interesting project I'd like to let you know about: www.cooltheworld.org. Have a look at the beta website, download the free tunes that I and the lovely Deborah Pardes wrote. Let me know what you think... |
